How a reading is made

1. The birth moment

You give the date, the time and the place you were born. The sky is calculated for that minute and that spot on Earth using our very own algorithm, based upon Swiss Ephemeris, the same computation professional astronomy software runs on.

Sidereal zodiac, Lahiri ayanamsa, true node. Those three choices are not decoration. The sidereal zodiac places the signs against the constellations where they actually stand today, roughly 24° from where a Western chart puts them. Far enough that most people's Sun lands in a different sign. Lahiri is the reckoning of that offset adopted as the Indian standard. And the lunar nodes are taken at their true position rather than a smoothed average, because Rahu and Ketu carry too much weight in this tradition to be rounded off. I know, a lot of jargons. We bring them cause they matter.

This is also why the time and its certainty matter more than anything else you tell us. The Ascendant moves through the whole zodiac in a day, roughly a degree every four minutes. An hour of error moves it fifteen degrees and can move it into the next sign entirely, which changes the foundation the rest of the reading is built on. Use Exact only for a reliable record; choose Remembered by family or Approximate when that is what you actually have.

If you know only a rough time such as morning or around noon, tell us that instead of turning it into false precision. There are parts of a reading that hold up across the uncertainty, and it is better to write those honestly than to build the whole thing on a number someone invented.

2. The pattern

The chart is read as a whole first: where the planets sit, what they are doing to each other, which parts of a life they govern. This is the layer that does not change: the pattern you keep living, the shape you were born into.

It is read through Jyotisha, the Vedic tradition. Its distinguishing feature is the next step.

3. The chapters

Jyotisha divides life into chapters (dashas). Each governed by a planet and each lasting a set number of years. It is the part of this tradition that has no equivalent elsewhere: it means a reading can say which chapter you are in right now, when it began, and when it ends, and what this stretch of years is asking of you.

A chapter is long enough to be worth naming. From a real reading: since April 2015 you have been in the great chapter of Venus, which runs twenty years, until 2035 — you are exactly halfway through it. Yours is dated the same way.

4. It gets written

Then it is written. Not a template with your name inserted — a document about your life, in continuous prose, that takes hours to produce.

What it actually tells you

Nothing in this list is a sample or an extra: every reading covers each of these in full.

• What you repeat. The pattern that has turned up in every job and every relationship, and where it comes from.
• The chapter you are in. Which period of your life is running now, when it began, when it ends, and what it rewards.
• Your strength, and its shadow. The same force that builds is the one that wounds under pressure. The reading shows both sides.
• Only yours. Calculated from your birth details and nobody else's.
• Plain language. Sanskrit is explained the first time it appears.

What it will not do

It will not tell you what is going to happen, and it does not claim to. What it offers is a description of a pattern and a chapter, precise about timing, for you to hold onto your entire life.

It is not a horoscope, it is not therapy, and it does not predict events. It is the careful reading of a symbolic system, made so you can see a pattern you are already living inside.
